Generation I

Reverend James Alexander was born about 1625 at Bughall, Stirlingshire, Scotland and died 17 November 1704 at Raphoe, County Donegal, Ulster, Ireland.

He married Mary Maxwell. She was born about 1630 at Raphoe, County Donegal, Ulster, Ireland.

The family Alexander came to Raphoe, Ireland as tenants of Sir James Cunningham, a Scottish nobleman from Ayrshire, and settled on lands in Donegal County in the Laggan District. James Alexander was a minister in the Laggan Presbytery, and was imprisoned in Raphoe in 1681 for calling a fast to protest the policies of the Church of England.

John Alexander (born 1662 at Raphoe, County Donegal, Ulster, Ireland)

Jane Alexander (born 1665 at Raphoe, County Donegal, Ulster, Ireland)

 

He also married Margaret Scrymgeour.
